Hiking trail „Treenetal & more“

There is a lot to see on this hiking route: the Findlingsgarten (glacial stone garden), owl sculptures, an open-air pool and an observation point, for example. The special feature of the tour „Treenetal & More“ is the detour down into the Treenetal, which brings this hiking route up to the 14.5 km mark.

Das gibt es hier zu entdecken

Hiking

The Treeneland around Tarp, Oeversee and Sieverstedt offers a charming landscape, formed by the glaciers of the Ice Age. Moors, heaths, inland dunes, woods, meadows, lakes and the Treene invite you to go for a walk on one of the many circular routes. The pilgrimage route and the European Long Distance Path are suitable for extensive hikes with or without overnight accommodation.

Owl Hiking Trail

64 creative owl sculptures - result of a unique art project

Owls in the most varied of forms, carved from thick oak trunks and impressive to look at – owl sculptures with character were created at sculpture symposia between 2007 and 2011. Trainee wood sculptors from all over Germany created 64 owls, which can be discovered along the owl hiking path. The owl is incidentally the heraldic animal of the municipality of Tarp.

Glacial Erratic Garden, Poppostein

73 stones – granite, gneiss, diabase, rapakivi...
steeped in legend - what really happened at the Poppostein?

Glacial erratics (Findlinge in German) are enormous stones that were brought to Treeneland long ago in the Ice Age by the glaciers. The most fantastic stone finds, beautiful and immovable, can be seen in the Findlingsgarten, which invites visitors to explore and provides worthwhile information on charts. The baptismal font of the Viking King Harald Blauzahn is to be found in Sieverstedt – the „Poppostein“.

Open-Air Pools

heated water - early bathing possible from May

In Treeneland, pool-lovers can bathe and relax in the fresh air in two heated outdoor pools (in Tarp and in Sieverstedt). Whether you want to swim a few lengths sportily, splash around and slide or enjoy sunbathing on the generous lawns – the pools have more to offer than this. In Sieverstedt, there is among other things a beach volleyball field and in Tarp there is a 50 m sports pool.

Viewing platforms

Viewing platforms by the Sankelmarker See, in the Fröruper Mountains and in the Treenetal in Tarp offer a fantastic view of the region.
